Services / Interpretation / Whispered interpreting

Whispered interpreting, or chuchotage, is a form of simultaneous interpreting for which no equipment is required. The interpreter simply whispers to the listener precisely what the speaker is saying. Whispered interpreting is used when consecutive interpreting is impractical and the use of simultaneous interpreting equipment uneconomical, for example when there are only one or two users of a specific language involved. Whispered interpreting is typical of meetings, interviews, conferences and events in general where the audience and speaker share a language that is different from the client’s.

Chuchotage interpreters are expected to speak and listen at the same time and to deliver the translated speech a few seconds after the original speaker. This is not an easy task for an interpreter without comprehensive knowledge and practice. Finding a proven language solutions partner who is experienced in all aspects of the interpreting is therefore critical to success.

With a network of over 35,000 interpreters, mLingua has access to the most talented interpreters with a broad range of specialisations who can provide expert solutions tailored to your specific needs. These services are provided in compliance with the quality management system ISO 9001:2008. We specialise in providing professional chuchotage interpreters when and where you need them.
