Services / Interpretation / Liaison interpreting

Liaison interpreting means live interpreting for one or several people. Liaison interpreting does not involve the use of specialist equipment. The interpreter usually sits next to the speaker and does not take any notes as the fragments to be interpreted are short. During liaison interpretation, the speaker pauses after saying a short fragment of speech to allow for its interpretation into the target language.

Liaison interpretation is used wherever a high level of detail is required, for example, in court for questioning of witnesses or experts. It is also used in situations in which it is difficult to take notes or the speaker's words are accompanied by a presentation.

Liaison interpreting requires resistance to stress, the ability to divide attention, excellent concentration skills, superb reflexes and good diction. mLingua is one of few companies on the market providing liaison interpreting for various companies and institutions. We usually interpret:

  • Court hearings
  • Press conferences
  • Teleconferences and videoconferences
  • TV and radio broadcasts
  • Visits and training from foreign experts.
